15/52 Love Songs: "Just Another Day in Paradise," by Phil Vassar

Just Another Day in Paradise
Phil Vasser

The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills, overdue
Good morning, baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, a quick shower
Take a drink of milk, but the milk's gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don't kick it, I promise I'll fix it
Long about a million other things

[Chorus]
Well, it's okay, it's so nice
It's just another day in paradise
Well, there's no place that I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts and one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night, ooh
For just another day in paradise

Friday, you're late
I guess we'll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant, you start to cry
Baby, we'll just improvise
Well, plan B looks like
Domino's pizza in the candle light
Then we'll tippy-toe to our room
Make a little love that's overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy, can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?

[Chorus]

For just another day in paradise, oh yeah
Well, it's the kids screaming, the phone ringing
Just another day (Just another day in paradise)
Well, it's Friday, you're late
Oh yeah (In paradise)
Yeah, yeah, it's just another day in paradise (In paradise)

The Love Note

Dear Wife and Mother Extraordinaire,

Real life. The sacred is found in the mundane. While there are many great and wonderful places I hope to see with you someday, I want you to know that no matter how things improve in our lives financially/temporally, I am the happiest now with you as you are. I love our family. I love our children with all of my heart. And as hard as it is to imagine being able to love anyone more than I love my children, I love you most of all. Without you, where would I be? Where would we be? Where would our family be? I guess our home has, on some level, already achieved some of its own “paradisiacal glory.” I thank God for you. I truly live in Paradise. Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is in you.” I agree and add that for me, the kingdom of heaven is with you. Thanks for choosing me and for saying “Yes.”

Yours ALWAYS,

Jonathan
